Description

Description

A sleeping Weddell seal lifts its head at the right moment, providing just the foreground element I was searching for to capture this blazing Antarctic sunset. This species has the southernmost distribution of any mammal on Earth, and it was a great honor to share this moment with such a charismatic character. Shot on assignment for National Geographic and Sea Legacy down in the Antarctic Peninsula to document the rapidly changing southern landscape.
